NY Times on Guns, and A Survivalist Family TV Opportunity

April 9th, 2009 · 3 Comments

Good Afternoon-

First, I want to encourage as many of you as possible to read this on NY Times.

(I have noticed that this article was down parts of today- obviously a hot topic)

Then, I would ask you to please get out there and make some good and reasonable arguments against all of the misguided pro-ban comments… For one thing, the Virginia Tech kid used handguns. so did the Binghamton guy. No assault rifles, and a high number of victims. Assault rifles don’t kill people, people kill people.

On a less infuriating note, this is from a producer working on a television documentary.

I am a producer looking to on finding a dynamic family to profile for a one-hour television documentary series. We’re looking for outgoing families (with teens between the ages of 15-20) who strongly believe in living a self-sufficient, survivalist, “back to basics” lifestyle. This family teaches preparedness, strives to live under the radar, is self-reliant and could sustain social collapse. They would be willing to share their beliefs and way of life with our documentary crew.

If you, or anyone you know, has an interesting family (with teenagers) who fits this description, I would love to talk!

Thank you so much! Feel free to contact me directly at: livingoffthegrid2@gmail.com

If anyone is interested, please email her.

Good Luck!

Link is not available for me either (9pm Eastern). The point that they’re probably trying to make is severely misguided and definitely not based on well-informed opinions. The anti-gun “cliques” are usually based on group think and are argued by so-called liberal people who conveniently neglect to even hear the viewpoints that oppose theirs, much less understand them. Most pro-gun people, on the other hand, have heard and might even understand the viewpoints of those who want more gun regulation, but we just choose to follow our own values and support constitutional rights.

As for the documentary producer, I personally think that it’s an awesome idea to make that type of lifestyle more apparent to the general public. Her only struggle would be that she might have limited applicants, as most people who “live under the radar” could care les about being in a documentary. She will get some people though. The idea reminds me of that series on the Discovery channel last year about surviving the Alaskan wilderness for several months, including putting up food, hunting and fishing, building items, and cutting firewood for the winter. I think their either reshowing it this spring or their showing a different group of people.

These two related topics, as well as others, are exactly what many of us are interested in and share on this website, as well as what we choose to read about and practice in our non-computer lives.

The comments left by the people who read the article are more scary than the article itself.

    BAM, BAM, BAM,
Sounds like the begginning of a Flintstones commercial. I’ve never seen a gun of any kind jump up from a table and fire it self……….
The problem is the legal system not the weapons.
Punishments should be swift and sure Thats what the constitution demands and so should we be convicted recieve punishment within 24 hrs especially in a Capital Crime.
And make the puishment fit the crime also let the Judiciairy swing with the same type punishment deceitful lawyers caught trying too attempt to subvert the law recieve punishment not acolades.
