You Need To Eat

If you’re not normally a prepper or so-called doomer, and you haven’t already stockpiled at least three months worth of food and water (not to mention extra fuel, batteries, cash, medicines you need, etc), now might be a good time to go on a crash program.

The swine flu doesn’t have to wipe out half the human race to cause food shortages and widespread closures of essential services.  It doesn’t have to do much besides cause a little fear, and that three-day supply of food at your local store could suddenly vanish.  You won’t feel too good when the little tykes look up at you with those sad, hungry eyes, and you’re forced to say, “No food today, kids.  Maybe next week.”

Personally, I topped up my own supply of food and water the other night with a quick 10 p.m. trip to the supermarket.  There was nobody there, just the stock guys, a couple of bored cashiers, and me, rolling around a cart filled with a few dozen cans of stuff I hope I don’t need.  It was very quiet, and seemed a little bit like the calm before the storm.

Afraid to go to the supermarket?  I don’t blame you.  There are a lot of germs in the supermarket.  Check out the SHTF Blog store instead, and order up the good stuff before supplies run out.

Good advice indeed. We did the same thing here locally in topping off our supplies. The scary thing that people may not be aware is that when the SHTF, it will only take a half hour before the grocery stores are cleaned out. If folks don’t have their storage already lined up, good luck… http://tinyurl.com/d6yfeu

Good advice. One concern I have re: grocery stores is the “just in time” system for shipping food and supplies. It works great but is completely dependent on technology. It wouldn’t take much for the system to go haywire.
