Wow – this old ad is a little …. scary. Accidental discharge is apparently “impossible” with a “hammerless automatic revolver” for $6 bucks. Absolutely safe! “Papa says it won’t hurt us” ….. woah ….

This ad ran in Harper’s Weekly in 1904. Firearm advertising has certainly changed.

BTW: On a somewhat related note, why don’t they make ads like THIS any more? Gawd – even I want one!

I believe I was born in the wrong decade. Life back in the early 1900s is very appealing to me.
Times have certainly changed, I bought some antique hobby books for my son that has plans to make REAL log cabins and all kinds of stuff one today might consider dangerous. If you look at the craft books today you won’t find much more than kite making and paper mache’ – all littered with warning labels and parental supervision recommendations of course.
There would be less warning labels and more dangerous activities if parents weren’t trying to make easy money by suing big companies.
