Tuesday Bison, The Man, “stole” a post idea from Rawles, The Legend. Something to do with gun inflation. Today I’m stone cold stealing an idea from Bison’s post yesterday on consumer driven, controlling, non-preparedness women. “American wives pretty much suck,” he writes.
Come now, Bison . . . *shaking head* . . . it can’t be that bad. There ARE hot SHTF chics! Have you scoped my MySpace page? There are ALL KINDS of survival ladies on board the preparedness train. Well . . . . they’re in the minority, but . . . they rule! Even the military knows this, check the new combat shirt they’ve issued for the ladies in Afghanistan and Iraq:

I’m not sure what’s up with the sunglasses and the pose, but I’m diggin’ the shirt! If I saw an army of these women coming at me I’d drop my weapon in awe. Which means! WTSHTF, recruit hot women - fast!
Granted, these ladies might not be as rough and rugged as the women from “the olden days” (Calamity Jane and Annie Oakley).

But would we really want them to be?
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not big on the superficial, materialistic, nag you all day kind of woman. Female OR male, I don’t have much in common with these folks. However, you can find a woman that isn’t 100% nose diving into SHTF, but that could quickly adapt to a SHTF situation. It’s all about attitude. Just because a woman doesn’t want to hunt deer doesn’t mean she won’t insist on gutting it if TEOTWAWKI hits. Double that if she’s a mother. Take a lesson from the wild, don’t screw with the cubs, because momma’s around.
Further, as I described in this post, women can be used as a lure for suspected thugs, I posted on more Michigan women packing heat, and (somewhat related) birth control in the post-apocalyptic world.
Now, go forth, find a cool chic - and arm her! It’s tee-ought-wah-key time!

Hey, and how about even more reverse?? There are some of us prepping-ladies who are having problems with the guys in our lives too!!
Convincing them that yes, we should get those extra canned goods while they are on sale and no, that city condo w/ no yard is not a good place to look when we start looking to buy into some real estate is not so easy to make.
I’ve finally got mine reading Kunstler’s ‘Long Emergency’ tho, so there’s hope — Otherwise those of us with uncooperative spouse might be needing to look into trading up!

I definintely think that finding a woman who is not a nagging wench is important. Teach her to shoot before anything happens and you will be good to go if it does. When it comes to justifying the financial aspect of preparations the rangerman or bison approaches will work well because they involve (relatively) small amounts of money and minimal lifestyle changes now.

Insead of hanging out at the Wally World and Krogers, go to the range and gun shops. Take the first woman you see out to dinner! My NEXT wife/parnter will be more like minded.
Remember, the only “soul mate” you really have is your kids.

UPDATE: Well, extreme denial amongst other issues ended up with that one leaving, much to my disappointment (heh… and he never finished reading Kunstler’s book either). No matter though — as I was scooped up by someone new and better who is much more inline with a prepping perspective, so it seems that my last comment there about trading up was rather accurate.
