Taser Defense – Taser Proof Jacket

by Ranger Man on December 26, 2007

Post-Christmas Action
Did y’all have a slammin’ good Christmas? Who found a shotgun bed holster under the tree? Anyone? I trust none of you blasted Santa Christmas Eve thinking he was an intruder. Anyone score any SHTF gifts?

Ranger Man scored a sweet Northface shirt, some wool socks, a $40 gift card to LL Beans, the board games Risk and Balder Dash, camouflage gloves, and a bottle of Canadian Club. Considering I didn’t want anything in the first place, I’m pleased. The kiddos did even better – of course. Thomas the Tank Engine is all the rage. {note to self: store misc. wooden trains in STHF “go bag” to help children cope with stress}

Onward.

A reader contacted me about my “Don’t Tase Me, Bro” post asking, “Can I buy and carry one?” That depends on where you live.

Tasers are restricted in these states: Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Wisconsin

Tasers are restricted in these cities: Annapolis, MD; Baltimore, MD; Baltimore County, MD; Chicago, IL; District of Columbia; Philadelphia

Tasers are restricted in these countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Are you an angry college student, highway speeder that refuses to sign tickets, or just some drunk that doesn’t like being told what to do by the cops? There is presently an “energy weapon protection device” being developed for you non-compliant folks. I call it a “taser proof jacket.” Here’s a sketch from the patent:

Read the full patent description here: http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-adv.htm&r=1&p=1&f=G&l=50&d=PTXT&S1=7,284,280&OS=7,284,280&RS=7,284,280

There are also fabrics available that serve as taser defense, but they’re being sold to police departments. They’re here: http://www.thorshield.com/prod01.htm

Leather coats and good old field jackets will work also. You need something that will prevent the needles of the tazer from impacting your body. I heard this directly from a cop but your milage may vary.

Mag-Lite with LED drop in bulb. A new gun cleaning kit, freeing the old one up for some portability. *My Swiss kit just lacks the gear for anything less then .30 caliber.* A GI issue wool blanket, and a set of GMRS/FRS walkie talkies.
I was hoping Santa would hook me up with some Bushmaster 30 or 40rd magazines, but to no avail. Guess what the money will be for? :)
