Time to Don Your Tinfoil Hat

by Ranger Man on July 29, 2008

The bank crisis, inflation and oil – oh my! Is it just me or is there enough doom in the news to force anyone to pop some happy pills just to stay sane?

*sip of coffee*

Food shortages, firewood prices and the Iranian showdown – egad! Is it just me or is there enough gloom in the news to make anyone feel on edge?

*sip of coffee*
*fidgeting feet*

The bulk of my savings is in the bank. How long before it implodes? Grocery store prices are bruising my wallet. How long before it keels over?

*sip of coffee – empty cup*

Heating oil is $4.60 a gallon. ONE 275 gallon tank = $1,265! My tanks are 4/5′s full . . . for now. Wood – right. Got boatloads of cash for maple, beech and oak?

*pour more coffee*
*fidgeting feet*
*two scoops of sugar*
*stir and sip*

My backyard garden is weak. “Honey, salvage those 4 blackberries. One for each of us.” #10 cans of freeze dried foods are gone, and ammo is through the roof. A guy can’t even tank out his frustrations at the range without breaking the bank.

*sip, sip – gulp*

Holy CRAP – I’m going insane! Shhhhhhhhh . . . . *looks to the left and to the right* . . . . Big Brother is listening. Time to don your tinfoil hat.

Well, man- it made my day meeting you. I just told my wife about your blog. We are forever WOG as a family and gearing up as best we can. Love that surplus store. Let’s go to the range together someday.
p.s.- now that we understand each other, let me recommend making your own wine and building a stash of it for the upcoming shit-storm. Nothing trades better when it all runs out than good wine and other booze. (maybe smoked salmon)
Wine=food+ammo.
Wog-out.
