Weaponcraft: Maine and New England Firearms Training and Sales

March 12th, 2008 · 7 Comments

So you own a sweet rifle or handgun and think your self-defense needs are met? Sure, you can take a box of shells to the range, sight it in and call it good, but - if you bought it for self-defense reasons - that’s like buying a car, driving it up the street, and proclaiming you’re ready for the Indy 500. When your life is on the line your heart will race a thousand beats a second and your hands will shake. Ever try shooting with your opposite hand? Ever try hitting a target when your balance is off? Defending yourself isn’t like shooting at the range - or maybe I’m preaching to the choir. Either way, enter Weaponcraft:

Yep, it’s SHTFblog sponsor promotion day. Think of it as a brief commercial break in a long running SHTF special program. See the left sidebar. It’s important to note here that I contacted Weaponcraft, not vice-versa. Why? Because they rule!

Weaponcraft provides firearms training and sales in Cumberland, Maine, just 2 hours from Boston. They’re staffed with SRT/SWAT instructors and provide non-macho, non-intimidating, super-friendly firearms training for civilians, military units, private contractors, and law enforcement at very reasonable rates. Attend with SHTF homies and the price drops further.

Scope their classes:betty_weaponcraft.jpg

  • Basic Handgun
  • Defensive Pistol 1
  • Defensive Pistol 2
  • Advanced Defensive Techniques
  • Urban Rifle/Carbine 1
  • Urban Rifle/Carbine 2
  • Practical Shotgun
  • and specialty classes

You gotta see their site for a full description of each class. Front Sight is a well known company, but their one day handgun course is $1,000.00! Weaponcraft’s basic, one day handgun course is only $125.00, and yes, it meets the requirements for a concealed weapons permit or CCW.

You don’t own a rifle, but you’re thinking about getting one? Wait! At Weaponcraft you can try one of THEIR rifles. See what you like and get training at the same time. You wouldn’t buy a car before trying it out, why do it with a rifle?

Scope their site: www.WeaponcraftTraining.com. It was just re-designed, so it’s super fresh.

They’re enrolling for April classes now. That’s wicked - ayuh!

- Ranger Man

BTW: if AR’s are your thing, they’ll also build one custom for you. They have great pricing on 5.56mm rounds, and sell Surefire, EOTech, STI, SIG, Glock, HK, Springfield and Taurus. Their online gun store is still in development, so contact them for pricing.

My wife and I took the basic handgun class a few years back. The class, instructors and range time were great.

    Recommended.

Do they have a storefront retail operation Rangerman? Every time I go to Kittery Trading Post the people there look down their noses at anyone browsing the evil black rifle section and it is a hell of a drive anyway.

I have heard good things about Weaponcraft from others and have seen them at shows, but did not know if it was a store to support a training center or vice versa.
