Thank God I’m not alone. My wife said that my fascination with flashlights needed to be addressed with therapy. Lol.

Mag Lites have always been my go to flashlights for when the chips are down. Reliable and tough. I’ve always shied away from the MINI MAGLITE LED in favor of the standard Zenon bulb because of my stubborn streak against new fangled items. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? Wrong.
I caved in and bought the LED version last week. My original MINI MAGLITE puts out a lack luster 17 lumens. By comparison, my new LED MINI MAGLITE puts out and astounding 77 lumens. That’s a an increase of over 400 %. Although, I swear that it seems over 1000% to my eyes.
The added feature of power reduction to 25 % in order to save battery life is excellent with little sacrifice to light emission during most situation.
The added feature of strobe and SOS flashing seems more gimmicky to me than really useful in my opinion.
My old MINI MAGLITE would be struggling to light up an area more than fifteen feet away on a darkened street. The new LED version, even at 25% power, can light up a residential building across the street!
It is my understanding that MAGLITE is coming out with an even more powerful version (128 lumens) for the MINI MAGLITE soon for around $27. A little costly. Maybe.
Like they say, “you only get what you pay for”. My money will always be on MAGLITE.
