Have y’all seen www.DoomsdayJesters.com? It’s kind of the first site I’ve seen of this nature – prepper humor. Longtime SHTF Blog readers may recall that’s pretty much how I started off writing, a lot of tongue-in-cheek writing, dry humor. Doomsday Jesters is the first site that I’ve seen devoted entirely to trying to profit off prepper humor, however; specifically they’re targeting the 12/21/2012 Doomsday, with t-shirt designs like …
and …
Funny? Kinda. Are they gonna make any money off the site? I don’t know. I’m not sure what the market for these products is like. Would YOU buy a prepper humor product? They have things like “ascension robes” …
Will they get rich off these products? It’s anyone’s guess, but it seems like they’re tying a lot of their efforts into building a site/business that may be time limited in nature. I mean, this is the first I’ve heard of them and they’ve only got until late December … until their business comes to a close … along with the rest of the world …
Zombie humor has been around a while …
But that’s a bit different. Zombies themselves get a lot of their popularity based on humor. Prepper, doomsday humor seems different, particularly when it’s in the form of “buy this.” Part of me thinks it’s the beginning (or continuation) of a mockery of the prepper movement. The other part of me thinks, “geesh, prepping can be a bit of a downer sometimes, why not laugh at ourselves?”
I don’t know, but I do know people are trying to profit off preppers more and more every day as the prepper market grows. Have we reached the saturation point yet? Too many products, stores and sites getting pushed on you?
Well, if not, please visit our advertisers (tell them we sent you) and use that Amazon shopping link in the right sidebar for all of your Amazon shopping. I appreciate those of you that do. Shop away, kick a commission our way. *shrug* Guess I’d might as well try to profit, too …

I enjoy your website and have it as a favorite I check out daily and have a small suggestion. Is there any chance you could add a icon associated with your website address so when added to a bookmarks toolbar, there would be a quick visual reference? Right now it just shows up as a blank space and I have to mouse over to see what site it links too. Most sites have some sort of icon associated with it and I think your page could benefit from such a feature.
Yeah, how to do that has always eluded me. Anyone know how? Do tell. Reader suggestions on what icon to use?

The icon you are looking for is called a favicon… it is 16 X 16 pixels and utilized by putting this kind of tag in the page markup:
For more info just google “favicon” or check out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon
Doubt I would buy but I may visit occasionally jus to see what they have… it is pretty darn funny.
petty neat stuff… more than likely would not buy it but enjoy looking at it… i mean if we cant laugh at ourselves than we are wayyyyyy to serious… prepping is a way to protect familys and our way of life… but we still need to remember to live our lives..
I wouldn’t buy any of it. There are other things I would spend money on. But I would just look. Now there is so much to buy I have to be careful and make sure I get a good product at a good price.
Nope. I’m going to spend my extra cash on “hope” and “forward” t -shirts. Sarcasm on.
hmm… is a favicon large enough for the sexy lady straddling the large gun? I miss her…. 😀 😀
“Oh behave.”
(Said in Austin Powers voice.)
I found it about as funny as the Stalin’s death camps.
I’m sure that running a site like this is tough because there is only just so much you can say on the subject.
I’m just wondering when some military minded person will start giving directions to thoses who are willing, on how to organize and plan a survival defense. Not just the usual, “Talk to your neighbor’s ect”. ……that’s my two cents.
Stalin’s death camps? Seriously? Relax, Nantan Lupan … it’s a joke website.
Nuthin’ wrong with a little humor Rainja. Some people are so uptight about the future they miss out on life. (Guilty).. The only thing sure is the present (as in it’s a gift). I check out the rawlse site and some of us take ourselves way too serious. Right RoyG? That’s why the community gets satirized. Lighten up eh? Will they get rich? I am constantly amazed at the things people waste money on. That’s MY 2Cents.
How’d you get that picture of me?
I’m all for lightening up, it’s been said before, if it’s a humorless hell on earth, I don’t want to be there. As to the site, they’re not very imaginative. The jokes are trite and flat … these are definitely not preppers. We all know the ‘You know you’re a prepper when …’ You could get several shirts out of that.
Me, if I felt they’d sell I could have blast doing doomsday, zombie and prepper jokes/images. I think you are right about time based. If they are only focusing on the Mayan calendar thing, they’ve got a very short future in sales. Those of us who believe in ‘The Prepping Way…” (echo echooo echooooo) should take a laugh in what we are doing. What if we’re wrong? What if it’s such a ball out of left field that no one can prep? And yes, if we’re wrong, food, medicine and other materials are all usable.
The Gun Hoarders and the Scavengers and the wanna be ninjas will all be totally lost if we’re wrong (and mostly lost if we aren’t.) There have been people before who lost their perspective and when they were wrong, it tore them apart. We believe and preach prepping, but we also are here today and are responsible for each other, here and now, not when SHTF. Do I think we should be insulted? No, but we also shouldn’t be persecuted.
I think of it like my faith: I believe you need it. I believe I need it. I might even try to teach (not preach) about it. But if someone makes fun of it, I can agree and laugh; religion is stupid and weird and … but I personally need it.
