EAT Dogs – ALL of Them!

A few of you commented on my “SHTF Dogs Liability or Asset?” post. I had to laugh. One thing I’ve learned writing this blog is that if you can make one post into two – you do. The dog post for example, you wrote as though I hadn’t considered dogs as a food source, but I have . . . oh, I have.

*pats stomach*

NEVERTHELESS! You provided insight I hadn’t considered, wisdom you bestowed, and THUS, wisdom to share with the masses. Been Around, Sput, YOU are hereby official members of the STHFblog SHTF homie club. Oh yes, membership has no privileges, but welcome aboard.

Been Around writes:

The reason those black tounged Chows are called Chows is they were raised in China for ….Chow.Probably the reason they do not relate to people very well.

and Sput writes:

Ranger — You forget that dog is a food source for many peoples — Caan-cho is (sp.?) is Viet for dog stew — as far as fido as an auxillary heat source, think Three Dog night, named for just that.

Now . . . . let us dine . . . . on K-9.

If Wiki is to be trusted, in some countries certain breeds of dogs are raised for their meat. Source: “Though the consumption of dog meat is generally viewed as taboo in Western Culture, some Westerners support the right to eat dog meat and accuse other Westerners who protest against dog eating in other countries of cultural imperialism and intolerance.” They even have a nutritional chart there.

This site seems to tick a lot of people off: If you want the full on view go see the research by Dr. Dogmeat. Dog meat is big business in South Korea where you can get grilled Fido from street vendors packaged hot in doggy bags.

So SHTF homies, the chips are down, things ain’t lookin’ good, the neighbor’s dog has pissed you off before . . . lean . . . free range . . . goes great with onions . . . .

That’s one thing, but what if it was your dog . . . how hungry would you have to be?

Check the new poll.

P.S. Ron Paul TROUNCED the competition in the last poll. I’m not surprised, not with this crowd. Check the poll archives page for final results.

As much as I spend on my dogs it would be an expensive meal.

Big Bear would have an aweful expensive meal per pound if he decided to eat the datschunds. My friend ryan worked at a casino for awhile with a Cambodian guy. The man said that he had been here in the USA for 10 years before he knew that dog food was food for dogs not food from dogs.

When the SHTF and the bellies of your family are grumbling then the neighbors dog is going to start to sound aweful good. I suggest BBQing. As for eating your own dog that would be a hard one. If you are not going to be able to feed it (after the stockpiled kible runs out) then the only humane thing to do is put it down. Unfortunately at that point meat is meat. I would suggest keeping that information away from really young children though.

The annoying neighbor dogs who always crap in my yard are the tiny yippy kind. Not much of a meal. Maybe I’ll feed them to my dog so I can keep him around a while longer.

I would have to be really hungry to go that far, but I think I could do it…
