I’ve already told you to stop sitting. So it probably won’t surprise you when I suggest you forgo sitting for a movie this year with your sweet heart. And I know I can’t be the only one who isn’t recovered from the winter holiday sugar overload yet. I am still cringing at the thoughts of sweets, so don’t expect any suggestions of chocolates either.
Go climb a wall. Literally, go find a climbing wall (preferably an indoor one) and don’t leave till you and your partner reach the top. I love this one because you can build trust and muscles at the same time if you go up one at a time. And everyone likes 15 minutes of encouragement and cheerleading from a loved one.
Check the local county/state parks. There are a couple of different parks near me that are offering evening adult only walks. One is promising snow shoes through the woods if it’s deep enough on Saturday. These types of events are super cheap which fits in well with our new years goals. Plus, the exercise releases a lot of endorphins, adrenaline, serotonin, and dopamine. These chemicals work together to make you feel good. Goooood. 😉
Go dancing! A nice bit of dancing can really help a couple feel in sync. Physical syncing on the dance floor can lead to that state emotionally too. Music is a great relaxer. Bonus, when you find yourselves in sync at the end of the date you’re also nice and warmed up and relaxed.
Go to the shooting range. Get in some hand gun practice or try a few shots with something larger. (Not so large that either of you go home sore. Unless your goal is to get in a bunch of shoulder rubs later.) The smell of guns, the sound of them and the sharp staccato force of them make me smile every time. That’s not weird, right?
I suppose some of you are iced in. Or maybe eating by candle light because your power is out. That can be relaxing too. Maybe try to fit in some intentionally long cuddles. Or time in front of the fire, (or propane heater.) Work with what you’ve got. Shout out in the comments if you’ve got something great planned!

I mentioned your rock climbing for excersizes on Valentine’s to Mrs. Warrior, and she wasn’t particularly enthusiastic. She did say that if I took her out to a nice romantic dinner, some , uh, “cardio” could be arranged. I love it when a plan comes together.
LOL I knew I shouldn’t have led with that one. It’s just such a great time! It’s great team building, which sounds cheesy, but if your spouse isn’t your MVP on your Life Team, then why be in a partnership with that person? It’s something a bit off the beaten track for most people, so it would be a memorable outing. … Maybe I am crazy though.
Course your wife is still in the postpartum recovery period, so it’s not a great fit there. Maybe try the moonlit walk? 😀
We can push the stroller down the beach with three feet of snow! 🙂 No, but seriously, we usually will do some form of working out together, she’ll do pilates while I hit the elliptical, then she’ll go on the elliptical and I’ll do burpees or situps or what have you. I don’t think I’ll ever get her to rock climb, but the parks idea, or canoeing/kayaking, walks on the beach, etc, are all big hits once it warms up.
The first Valentine’s day my late wife and I were married, I told her the day was her’s and that we would do whatever she wanted to do . Her response was, she wanted to go to the range to try a few different handguns to help her decide which one she wanted to carry. After we tried a few different one’s, we left. When I asked her if she had decided on one, she said yes, She wanted one just like mine (Kimber Custom 2) so that became her Valentine’s present. Nothing says “Love” like matching sidearms.
LOL , dude , I cant get mine to spend the night outside . We “camp” at the motel and hike only on the trails , if they are well marked .
My wife want’s to go to the range but a foot of snow last week and a foot and a half today will put that trip on hold for a while.
Its 80 degrees here , so weather is no problem , we did ours on thursday , that way we could get a seat at our favorite restaurant and dance club , with no problems , got her a teddy bear as tall as she is lol , and all the other things ( flowers , chocolates ) . I was a good time , out and when we got home 😉
Horseback riding
Even at a walk on a trailride, works all the muscles in your body (mostly the ones you don’t know you have) especially in your core …
also it’s non-impact (unless you’re the horse) !
